Brahmaśirastra-pratisaṃhāra — Retraction and redirection of the supreme weapon
Sauptika Parva, Adhyāya 15
उवाच भरतश्रेष्ठ तावृषी प्राउजलिस्तदा । प्रमुक्तमस्त्रमस्त्रेण शाम्पतामिति वै मया
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
uvāca bharataśreṣṭha tāv ṛṣī prāñjalīs tadā |
pramuktam astram astreṇa śāmpatām iti vai mayā ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: Ó melhor entre os Bharatas! Então, com as mãos postas, ele se dirigiu àqueles dois sábios: “Veneráveis videntes, soltei esta arma com um único intento: que, por meio de uma arma de contragolpe, fosse apaziguado o Brahmāstra lançado pelo inimigo. Se agora esta excelente arma for recolhida, o pecador Aśvatthāman, fortalecido pelo fulgor do seu próprio projétil, certamente nos reduzirá a todos a cinzas.”
