Śiśupāla-vākya: Bhīṣma-nindā and the ‘Haṃsa’ Exemplum

Educational Q&A

That Kṛṣṇa is presented as the ultimate foundation (pratiṣṭhā) of the cosmos—time-markers like Sun and Moon, celestial bodies, and spatial directions all ‘rest in’ him—implying a devotional and ethical orientation where the highest refuge and standard of greatness is the divine.

In the Sabha Parva context, Bhīṣma is speaking in praise of Kṛṣṇa, framing him not merely as a heroic person but as the cosmic support of all realms and the supreme among all ‘best-of-their-kind’ exemplars.
