Adhyāya 31: Rājasūya-samāgama — The Gathering of Kings and the Ordering of Hospitality
तत उत्थाय ह्ृष्टात्मा प्राज्जलि: शिरसा नतः । पूजयामास माद्रेय: पावकं भरतर्षभ,भरतश्रेष्ठी जनमेजय! यह सुनकर माद्रीकुमार सहदेव प्रसन्नचित्त हो वहाँसे उठे और हाथ जोड़कर एवं सिर झुकाकर उन्होंने अग्निदेवका पूजन किया
tata utthāya hṛṣṭātmā prāñjaliḥ śirasā nataḥ | pūjayāmāsa mādreyaḥ pāvakaṃ bharatarṣabha ||
Ao ouvir isso, Sahadeva —filho de Mādrī— ergueu-se com o coração jubiloso. Com as palmas unidas em reverência e a cabeça inclinada, prestou culto a Pāvaka (Agni), ó touro entre os Bhāratas.
सहदेव उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic conduct expressed through humility and gratitude: when one receives auspicious guidance or divine support, the proper response is respectful worship and acknowledgment rather than self-importance.
Sahadeva, pleased by what he has just heard, stands up and performs a gesture of reverence—joining his palms and bowing his head—then worships Agni (Pāvaka).
