Maya’s Construction of the Assembly Hall

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how righteous kingship and orderly governance are traditionally mirrored by an environment of harmony and abundance: beauty, cool shade, and flourishing trees symbolize cultivated prosperity surrounding the seat of power.

Vaiśampāyana describes the surroundings of the grand assembly-hall: many kinds of large flowering trees stand all around it, providing cool shade and swaying in the breeze, enhancing the hall’s magnificence.
