Vasudeva–Arjuna Dialogue in the Aftermath of Dvārakā
नियति तु जने तस्मिन् सागरो मकरालय: । द्वारकां रत्नसम्पूर्णा जलेनाप्लावयत् तदा,उस जनसमुदायके निकलते ही मगरों और घड़ियालोंके निवासस्थान समुद्रने रत्नोंसे भरी-पूरी द्वारका नगरीको जलसे डुबो दिया
niyati tu jane tasmin sāgaro makarālayaḥ | dvārakāṃ ratnasampūrṇāṃ jalena aplāvayat tadā ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: Assim que aquele povo partiu—impelido pela niyati (o destino)—o oceano, morada dos makaras, então inundou Dvārakā, a cidade repleta de tesouros, submergindo-a em suas águas. O verso ressalta a força irresistível do destino, que conduz à dissolução até as mais esplêndidas realizações humanas.
