Vasudeva–Arjuna Dialogue in the Aftermath of Dvārakā
भृत्याश्चान्धकवृष्णीनां सादिनो रथिनश्न ये,अर्जुनकी आज्ञासे अन्धकों और वृष्णियोंके नौकर, घुड़सवार, रथी तथा नगर और प्रान्तके लोग बूढ़े और बालकोंसे युक्त विधवा स्त्रियोंको चारों ओरसे घेरकर चलने लगे
bhṛtyāś cāndhaka-vṛṣṇīnāṃ sādino rathinaś ca ye | (nagara-janāś ca deśa-janāś ca) vṛddha-bāla-samanvitāḥ vidhavāḥ striyaḥ paritaḥ parivārya jagmuḥ ||
Disse Vaiśampāyana: Por ordem de Arjuna, os servos dos Andhakas e dos Vṛṣṇis—junto com seus cavaleiros e guerreiros de carro—e também o povo das cidades e das províncias, puseram-se a caminho, cercando por todos os lados as viúvas acompanhadas de velhos e crianças.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
In the wake of catastrophe, dharma expresses itself as immediate protection and orderly care for those left vulnerable—widows, children, and the elderly—rather than triumph or vengeance.
After the ruin of the Andhaka–Vṛṣṇi clans, their retainers and fighters, along with local townspeople, move forward in a guarded formation, encircling and escorting widowed women who are accompanied by elders and children.
