Vasudeva–Arjuna Dialogue in the Aftermath of Dvārakā
स तेषां विधिवत् कृत्वा प्रेतकार्याणि पाण्डव: । सप्तमे दिवसे प्रायाद् रथमारुह्ु सत्वर:,पाण्डुनन्दन अर्जुन उन सबके प्रेतकर्म विधिपूर्वक सम्पन्न करके तुरन्त रथपर आरूढ़ हो सातवें दिन द्वारकासे चल दिये
sa teṣāṁ vidhivat kṛtvā pretakāryāṇi pāṇḍavaḥ | saptame divase prāyād ratham āruhya satvaraḥ ||
Disse Vaiśampāyana: Tendo realizado devidamente, segundo o rito prescrito, os ritos fúnebres por todos eles, o Pāṇḍava Arjuna, filho de Pāṇḍu, montou apressado em seu carro e, no sétimo dia, partiu de Dvārakā.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even amid crisis and urgency, dharma requires that one first complete obligatory duties—here, the proper funerary rites for the departed—before proceeding to other tasks. The verse highlights disciplined adherence to ritual and moral responsibility.
After the calamities at Dvārakā, Arjuna completes the prescribed rites for the deceased. Once these duties are fulfilled, he hastily mounts his chariot and departs on the seventh day.
