उसी वैरको याद करके यह अवश्य अपने वधके लिये ही तुमसे भिड़ना चाहता है। शत्रुसूदन! आकाशसे गिरती हुई प्रज्वलित उल्काके समान आते हुए इस सर्पको देखो ।। संजय उवाच ततः स जिष्णु: परिवृत्य रोषा- च्चिच्छेद षड़भिननिशितै: सुधारै: । नागं वियत्तिर्यगिवोत्पतन्तं स च्छिन्नगात्रो निपपात भूमौ

sañjaya uvāca | tataḥ sa jiṣṇuḥ parivṛtya roṣāc ciccheda ṣaḍbhir ati-niśitaiḥ sudhāraiḥ | nāgaṃ viyad-tiryag ivotpatantaṃ sa chinna-gātro nipapāta bhūmau ||

Sañjaya disse: Então Jiṣṇu (Arjuna), voltando-se em ira, decepou a serpente com seis flechas extremamente agudas e bem afiadadas. A cobra, saltando de lado pelo céu, caiu à terra com os membros cortados.
