ततोअमर्षी बलवान् क्रोधदीप्तो भीमोडब्रवीदर्जुनं सत्यसंधम् । परंतु जैसे मेघ जलकी धारा गिराता है
tato 'marṣī balavān krodha-dīpto bhīmo 'bravīd arjunaṁ satya-saṁdham | parantu yathā meghaḥ jala-dhārāṁ nipātayati tathā bāṇa-bauṣāreṇa karṇas tad astram apahṛtya (nāśayitvā) mahā-śobhāṁ lebhe | raṇa-bhūmau kirīṭa-dhāriṇaḥ arjunasya tad astram karṇena nāśitaṁ dṛṣṭvā 'marṣa-śīlo balavān bhīmasenaḥ punaḥ krodhena jajvāla, satya-pratijñaṁ arjunam evaṁ uvāca ||
Disse Sañjaya: Então Bhīma, feroz de ânimo, poderoso e em chamas de ira, dirigiu-se a Arjuna, firme na verdade. Pois, assim como uma nuvem derrama correntes de água, do mesmo modo Karṇa, com uma chuva de flechas, destruiu aquele projétil e ganhou grande esplendor. Vendo no campo de batalha que a arma de Arjuna, o do diadema, fora anulada por Karṇa, o forte Bhīmasena, incapaz de suportar a afronta, voltou a inflamar-se de cólera e falou assim a Arjuna, cujo voto era a verdade—
