तावुभौ प्रजिहीर्षस्ताविन्द्रवत्राविव प्रभो । भीमरूपधरावास्तां महाधूमाविव ग्रहौ,प्रभो! इन्द्र और वृत्रासुरके समान वे दोनों एक-दूसरेपर प्रहारकी इच्छा रखते थे। उस समय उन दोनोंने दो महान् केतु-्रहोंके समान अत्यन्त भयंकर रूप धारण कर लिया था
tāv ubhau prajihīrṣas tāv indrāvṛtrāv iva prabho | bhīmarūpadharāv āstāṃ mahādhūmāv iva grahau ||
Disse Sañjaya: Ó senhor, aqueles dois, cada qual decidido a abater o outro, ficaram frente a frente como Indra e Vṛtra. Assumindo formas de terror medonho, pareciam dois presságios celestes funestos, escurecidos pela fumaça—imagem que mostra como a fúria da batalha pode eclipsar o discernimento e transformar guerreiros em encarnações da calamidade.
