rathaṃ rathenāśu jagāma roṣāt kirīṭinaḥ putra-vadhābhitaptaḥ |
Disse Sañjaya: Ardendo de pesar pela morte do filho, o guerreiro de diadema impeliu seu carro adiante com rapidez e ira, investindo—carro contra carro—contra o inimigo. No clima moral da guerra, a perda pessoal acende a cólera, e essa cólera logo se endurece em violência renovada no campo de batalha.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how grief (śoka) can rapidly transform into wrath (roṣa) and propel further violence. It implicitly warns that in war, personal attachment and loss easily eclipse discernment, intensifying the cycle of retaliation.
Sañjaya narrates that the diademed warrior (Kirīṭin, i.e., Arjuna) moves swiftly in anger, driving his chariot toward the opposing chariot, being deeply distressed by the killing of his son.
