शोकार्णवे निमग्नो5हं भिन्ना नौरिव सागरे | जो पराक्रमशाली
śokārṇave nimagno ’haṃ bhinnā naur iva sāgare | taṃ vṛṣaṃ nihataṃ śrutvā dvairathe rathināṃ varam ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Afundei-me num oceano de pesar, como um barco despedaçado em pleno mar. Ao ouvir que Vṛṣa (Karna)—o mais eminente entre os guerreiros de carro—foi morto por Savyasācin Arjuna num duelo de carros, sou tomado pela tristeza.”
