वासुदेवं च वार्ष्णेयं प्रीयमाणं किरीटिना । प्रत्युद्याहि महाबाहो पौरुषे महति स्थित:
vāsudevaṃ ca vārṣṇeyaṃ prīyamāṇaṃ kirīṭinā | pratyudyāhi mahābāho pauruṣe mahati sthitaḥ ||
Arjuna disse: “Ó poderoso de braços, mantém-te firme no grande valor varonil e avança para enfrentar Vāsudeva—Kṛṣṇa dos Vṛṣṇis—sempre bem-disposto para comigo, Arjuna, o de diadema. Enfrenta-o também.”
अजुन उवाच
Even amid war, Arjuna frames confrontation in terms of steadfast courage (pauruṣa) and duty, while acknowledging Kṛṣṇa’s personal goodwill toward him—showing how loyalty and ethical resolve coexist with the harsh demands of battle.
Arjuna speaks to a “mighty-armed” opponent, urging him to advance and confront not only Arjuna but also Kṛṣṇa (Vāsudeva of the Vṛṣṇis), who is closely allied with and favorably disposed toward Arjuna.
