“महाबाहो! आज धृतराष्ट्र अपने राज्यसे, सुखसे, लक्ष्मीसे, राष्ट्रसे, नगरसे और अपने पुत्रोंसे भी बिछड़ जायँगे ।। गुणवन्तं हि यो द्वेष्टि निर्गुणं कुरुते प्रभुम्‌ । स शोचति नृप: कृष्ण क्षिप्रमेवागते क्षये,“श्रीकृष्ण! जो गुणवानसे द्वेष करता और गुणहीनको राजा बनाता है, वह नरेश विनाशकाल उपस्थित होनेपर शोकमग्न हो पश्चात्ताप करता है

sañjaya uvāca |

mahābāho! adya dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ svārājyāt sukhāt lakṣmyā rāṣṭrāt nagarāt svaputrebhyaś ca api vichatsyate ||

guṇavantaṃ hi yo dveṣṭi nirguṇaṃ kurute prabhum |

sa śocati nṛpaḥ kṛṣṇa kṣipram evāgate kṣaye ||

Disse Sañjaya: “Ó de braços poderosos! Hoje Dhṛtarāṣṭra será arrancado de seu reino, de seu conforto, de sua fortuna, de sua terra, de sua cidade, e até mesmo de seus filhos. Pois, ó Krishna, o rei que odeia o virtuoso e eleva o indigno ao trono—quando chega a hora da ruína—logo cai em tristeza e amargo remorso.”
