कवचं च ध्वजं चैव धनु: शक्ति्हया: शरा: । शरै: कृत्ता महेष्वास यतमानस्य संयुगे
kavacaṃ ca dhvajaṃ caiva dhanuḥ śaktiṃ hayāḥ śarāḥ | śaraiḥ kṛttā maheṣvāsa yatamānasya saṃyuge ||
Sañjaya disse: “Ó grande arqueiro! Enquanto eu me esforçava com todas as minhas forças no tumulto da batalha, Karṇa—diante dos olhos do exército—retalhou com suas flechas minha armadura e meu estandarte, meu arco, minha lança, meus cavalos e até minhas próprias setas, cortando tudo em pedaços.”
