Educational Q&A

The verse highlights ethical self-correction and the power of wise, gentle counsel: admitting one’s lapse (rule-breaking) and accepting guidance leads to rescue from grave consequences; it also frames Kṛṣṇa as the steady protector who ‘carries across’ distress.

Sanjaya reports a moment of reconciliation and relief: addressing Kṛṣṇa by multiple epithets, he acknowledges that Kṛṣṇa’s words are correct, confesses a breach of proper conduct, and credits Kṛṣṇa’s persuasion for saving ‘us’ from a terrifying crisis—imagined as an ocean of danger.
