क्षन्तुमहसि मे राजन् प्रणतस्याभियाचत: । “महाराज! हम दोनों आपकी शरणमें आये हैं और मैं चरणोंमें गिरकर आपसे क्षमा- याचना करता हूँ; आप मेरे अपराधको क्षमा करें
kṣantum arhasi me rājan praṇatasya abhiyācataḥ |
Sañjaya disse: “Ó rei, perdoa-me—eu, que me inclino e te suplico com sinceridade. Prostrado a teus pés, rogo-te: absolve a minha falta.”
संजय उवाच
The verse teaches humility and accountability: one should bow, acknowledge fault, and seek forgiveness from the rightful authority, especially when words spoken in tense circumstances may cause harm.
Sañjaya addresses the king (contextually Dhṛtarāṣṭra), prostrates in speech, and requests pardon—framing his report or counsel with deference and a plea to excuse any offence.
