Even in righteous war undertaken for a higher cause, harsh speech and suspicion corrode relationships and gratitude. The verse highlights the ethical demand to honor sacrifice and restrain disparagement, especially among allies and kin.
Arjuna addresses Yudhiṣṭhira, protesting that he is being insulted while Yudhiṣṭhira rests on Draupadī’s couch. Arjuna reminds him that he is killing mighty warriors for Yudhiṣṭhira’s cause, yet Yudhiṣṭhira has become overly suspicious and severe toward him.
