The Karṇa–Arjuna Confrontation
Cosmic Spectatorship and Vows

The verse highlights disciplined courage supported by wise, dharmic guidance: when danger surges suddenly, the righteous warrior restrains it with steadiness rather than fear, and the presence of Kṛṣṇa as ally symbolizes clarity and right counsel amid violence.
An opponent rushes at Arjuna; Arjuna, aided by Kṛṣṇa, immediately halts the charge. The poet illustrates this with a simile: as the shore prevents the ocean from overrunning the land, so Arjuna checks the attacker’s advance.
