कर्णार्जुनसमागमः — The Karṇa–Arjuna Confrontation
Cosmic Spectatorship and Vows
पार्थेन समरे राजन् कृतो घोरो जनक्षय: । विहता रथिन: पेतु: पार्थचापच्युतै: शरै:
sañjaya uvāca | pārthena samare rājan kṛto ghoro janakṣayaḥ | vihatā rathinaḥ petuḥ pārthacāpacyutaiḥ śaraiḥ ||
Sañjaya disse: “Ó rei, na batalha Pārtha (Arjuna) realizou uma terrível destruição de homens. Atingidos pelas flechas soltas do arco de Pārtha, muitos guerreiros de carro caíram ao chão. A cena ressalta o sombrio custo ético da guerra: mesmo quando travada por uma causa, o campo de batalha torna-se um lugar onde a vida humana é extinguida rápida e implacavelmente.”
