कर्णस्य सेनापत्याभिषेकः | Karṇa’s Consecration as Commander-in-Chief
तथैव युधि विक्रान्तो मागध: परमास्त्रवित् भीष्मेण निहतो राजउ्शेतेड्द्य परवीरहा
tathaiva yudhi vikrānto māgadhaḥ paramāstravit | bhīṣmeṇa nihato rājann adya śete paravīrahā ||
Sañjaya disse: “Assim também, ó rei, aquele valente magadha — matador de heróis inimigos e conhecedor das armas supremas — foi abatido por Bhīṣma e hoje jaz no campo de batalha.”
संजय उवाच
Even the most accomplished warrior—renowned as a slayer of foes and a master of supreme weapons—can be brought down in war; the verse underscores the fragility of martial glory and the inevitability of death amid kṣatriya conflict.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that a powerful Magadhan fighter, famed for weapon-mastery and for killing enemy heroes, has been slain by Bhīṣma and now lies on the battlefield.
