The verse highlights the ethical cost of war: even sacred familial bonds like father and son can be destroyed when martial duty and battlefield necessity dominate. It invites reflection on how dharma in war can still produce profound human tragedy.
Sañjaya reports that two powerful warriors, Sucitra and Citravarmā—who were father and son—were moving about the battlefield when Droṇācārya slew them in combat.
