Arjuna’s Rapid Advance and the Bhīma–Śakuni Encounter

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how anger (krodha) intensifies conflict and drives decisive but harsh actions; in the Mahābhārata’s war-ethic, mastery of weapons is often used to disable an enemy swiftly, yet the narrative also implies the moral cost when wrath governs conduct.

In the midst of combat, the warrior—described as enraged—uses a bhalla-arrow to cut Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s bow, aiming to neutralize him by destroying his primary weapon.
