Arjuna’s Rapid Advance and the Bhīma–Śakuni Encounter

The verse underscores the moral and existential cost of war: even when framed as heroic conflict, its reality is gruesome destruction, reminding the listener that violence—however justified—produces suffering and loss beyond measure.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that as the fierce battle rages and great warriors fall, the field is filled on all sides with innumerable kabandhas—headless bodies—standing or rising amid the carnage.
