श्रूयन्ते विविधा राजन् नामान्युद्धिश्य भारत । भरतवंशी नरेश! उस समय नाम ले-लेकर गरजते हुए शूरवीरोंकी भाँति-भाँतिकी बातें अविच्छिन्न-रूपसे सुनायी पड़ती थीं
śrūyante vividhā rājan nāmāny uddiśya bhārata | bharatavaṃśī nareśa! usa samaya nāma le-lekara garjate hue śūravīroṃ kī bhānti-bhānti kī bāteṃ avicchinna-rūpa se sunāyī paṛtī thīṃ
Disse Sañjaya: “Ó rei, ó Bharata, ouviam-se clamores de muitas espécies—guerreiros rugindo e bradando nomes. Ó soberano da linhagem de Bharata, então o campo de batalha ressoava sem cessar com gritos e réplicas variadas, como os chamados trovejantes de heróis que se nomeiam uns aos outros.”
