कर्णनिधनश्रवणम् — Hearing of Karṇa’s Fall and Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Lament
विन्दानुविन्दावावन्त्यौ राजपुत्रौ महारथौ । कृत्वा त्वसुकरं कर्म गतौ वैवस्वतक्षयम्,अवन्तीदेशके महारथी राजकुमार विन्द और अनुविन्द भी दुष्कर कर्म करके यमलोकको चले गये
vindānuvindāv āvantyau rājaputrau mahārathau | kṛtvā tv asukaraṃ karma gatau vaivasvatakṣayam ||
Sañjaya disse: Vindā e Anuvindā, os dois príncipes de Avanti e grandes guerreiros de carro, após realizarem um feito extremamente difícil, foram para a morada de Vaivasvata (Yama). A narrativa ressalta o sombrio custo moral da guerra: mesmo heróis kṣatriya renomados, depois de cumprir seu perigoso dever marcial, encontram a morte e passam ao reino de Yama.
