Chapter 45
व्याकुलीकृतमत्यर्थ पश्य सैन्यं किरीटिना । नानामृगसहस्राणां यूथं केसरिणा यथा
sañjaya uvāca | vyākulīkṛtam atyarthaṃ paśya sainyaṃ kirīṭinā | nānāmṛga-sahasrāṇāṃ yūthaṃ kesariṇā yathā ||
Disse Sañjaya: “Vede como o exército foi lançado em extrema confusão por Arjuna, o de diadema—tal qual um leão que aterroriza e dispersa uma manada formada por milhares de cervos de muitas espécies.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how disciplined valor and strategic force can dissolve an opposing host’s cohesion; ethically, it points to the battlefield reality that fear and disorder often overtake armies when confronted by a superior, steadfast champion.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Arjuna has severely unsettled the Kaurava forces, comparing their panic to a herd of many thousands of deer scattering before a lion.
