sañjaya uvāca | anādṛtya tu tad vākyaṃ madrarājena bhāṣitam | yāhīty evābravīt karṇo madrarājaṃ tarasvinam ||
Sañjaya disse: Desprezando as palavras do rei de Madra, Karṇa dirigiu-se àquele soberano, veloz e impetuoso, e disse apenas: «Vamos—avança.»
The verse highlights the ethical risk of dismissing wise counsel in moments of anger or martial pride. In dharmic terms, strength without receptivity to guidance can become rashness, especially in war where decisions carry irreversible consequences.
Sañjaya reports that Karṇa ignores what the king of Madra has just said and curtly orders him to proceed—“Go on.” It depicts a tense exchange where Karṇa asserts control and refuses to engage with the Madra king’s prior words.
