अतिकान्तं हि यत् कार्य पश्चाच्चिन्तयते नर: । तच्चास्य न भवेत् कार्य चिन्तया च विनश्यति
atikāntaṁ hi yat kāryaṁ paścāc cintayate naraḥ | taccāsya na bhavet kāryaṁ cintayā ca vinaśyati ||
Disse Sañjaya: “Ó Rei, quando um homem, depois, se consome a pensar num feito já além de qualquer retorno, esse feito não se cumpre de novo (nem se desfaz) por sua preocupação; ao contrário, por tal ansiedade ele próprio se arruína. Recorda as justificativas que outrora apresentaste e não te desperdices em remorso pelo que já não pode ser mudado.”
