कर्णस्य दानप्रतिज्ञा–शल्योपदेश–वाक्ययुद्धम्

चतुर्भिश्चतुरो वाहांस्तस्य हत्वा महारथ: । पजञ्चमेन शिर: कायात् सारथेश्व समाक्षिपत्
caturbhiś caturo vāhāṁs tasya hatvā mahārathaḥ | pañcamena śiraḥ kāyāt sārathes tu samākṣipat ||
Sañjaya disse: O grande guerreiro de carro abateu com quatro flechas os quatro cavalos de Duryodhana; depois, com a quinta, decepou a cabeça do cocheiro do corpo e lançou-a ao chão. A cena ressalta a precisão implacável da perícia no campo de batalha, onde a necessidade tática e a erosão da contenção caminham lado a lado em meio ao colapso da ordem do dharma na guerra.
