कर्णार्जुनयुद्ध-प्रवृत्तिः
Renewal of the Karṇa–Arjuna Engagement at Day’s End
ते पाण्डुयोधाम्बुधरै: शत्रुद्विरदपर्वता: । बाणवर्ष्िता: पेतुर्वज़वर्षरिवाचला:
te pāṇḍu-yodhāmbudharaiḥ śatru-dvirada-parvatāḥ | bāṇa-varṣitāḥ petur vajra-varṣa-rivācalāḥ ||
Disse Sañjaya: Atingidos por chuvas de flechas lançadas pelos guerreiros Pāṇḍava—como nuvens de chuva a despejar-se—os campeões inimigos, elefantinos e altos como montanhas, caíram, como se as próprias montanhas fossem derrubadas por uma chuva de raios. O verso enquadra a violência da batalha em imagens cósmicas, ressaltando que a perícia marcial, quando desencadeada, pode derrubar até os mais poderosos, e que a guerra reduz a força orgulhosa a uma ruína súbita.
