संजय उवाच शृणु राजन् यथा वृत्तं संग्रामं ब्रुवतो मम । वीराणां शत्रुभि: सार्थ देहपाप्मासुनाशनम्,संजयने कहा--राजन्! कौरव-वीरोंका शत्रुओंके साथ देह, पाप और प्राणोंका नाश करनेवाला संग्राम जिस प्रकार हुआ था, वह बता रहा हूँ। आप मुझसे सारी बातें सुनिये
sañjaya uvāca: śṛṇu rājan yathā vṛttaṃ saṅgrāmaṃ bruvato mama | vīrāṇāṃ śatrubhiḥ sārdhaṃ deha-pāpmāsu-nāśanam ||
Sañjaya disse: “Ó rei, escuta enquanto relato o que aconteceu. Ouve de mim como se desenrolou aquela batalha—na qual os heróis, travados com seus inimigos, encontraram a destruição do corpo, do pecado e do sopro vital.”
