द्रोणविक्रमदर्शनम् / The Display of Droṇa’s Onslaught and the Debate on Pāṇḍava Regrouping
कवचोर्मिध्वजावर्ता मर्त्यकूलापहारिणीम् । गजवाजिमहाग्राहामसिमीनां दुरासदाम्
kavacormidhvajāvartā martyakūlāpahāriṇīm | gajavājimahāgrāhām asimīnām durāsadām ||
Sañjaya disse: Drona —poderoso em valor, firme na verdade, erudito, forte e verdadeiramente heroico— fez o campo de batalha correr como um terrível rio de sangue, semelhante às águas da dissolução. Ele aterrorizava os pusilânimes. Suas ondas eram couraças, seus redemoinhos eram estandartes; arrancava as próprias margens feitas de corpos mortais. Elefantes e cavalos eram como grandes crocodilos em seu seio, e as espadas, seus peixes. Aquele rio era dificílimo de atravessar —imagem da força devoradora da guerra, onde coragem e dever são provados em meio a uma destruição avassaladora.
