तस्मिन्‌ हते महामात्रे पज्चालानां महारथे । अपायाज्जवनैरश्रैद्रोणात्‌ त्रस्तो युधिष्ठिर:

Transliteration

tasmin hate mahāmātre pāñcālānāṁ mahārathe | apāyāj javanair astrair droṇāt trasto yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ||

Translation

Sañjaya disse: Quando aquele grande comandante—o poderoso guerreiro de carro dos Pāñcālas—foi morto, Yudhiṣṭhira, abalado pelo medo, recuou diante de Droṇa, enquanto o preceptor o pressionava com armas de voo veloz. O momento ressalta como até o rei justo, dedicado à contenção, é forçado pelo ímpeto brutal da guerra a retirar-se ante uma força marcial superior.
