अकम्पत महाराज भयत्रस्तेव चाड़ना | महाराज! दौड़ते हुए पैदल सैनिकोंके पैरोंकी धमकसे यह पृथ्वी भयभीत अबलाके समान काँपने लगी
sañjaya uvāca | akampata mahārāja bhayatrastā iva cāṇḍanā | mahārāja! dhāvataḥ padātisainikānāṃ pādānāṃ dhamakena iyaṃ pṛthivī bhayabhītā abalā iva kampitum ārabdhā |
Disse Sañjaya: Ó rei, a terra começou a tremer, como se fosse tomada pelo medo. Ó grande rei, golpeado pelo estrondo dos pés da infantaria em corrida, o chão estremeceu como uma mulher indefesa e aterrorizada — imagem que ressalta a força avassaladora e desumanizadora da guerra.
