ततः: समभवद् युद्ध घोररूपं भयानकम् | पाण्डूनां भगदत्तेन यमराष्ट्रविवर्धनम्
tataḥ samabhavad yuddhaṃ ghorarūpaṃ bhayānakam | pāṇḍūnāṃ bhagadattena yamarāṣṭravivardhanam ||
Disse Sañjaya: “Então ergueu-se uma batalha—terrível em forma e pavorosa de ver—entre os Pāṇḍavas e Bhagadatta; um conflito que fazia crescer o reino de Yama, pois enviava muitos à morte. Assim, a violência da guerra, movida por orgulho e rivalidade, tornou-se um engenho de destruição, e não um guardião da retidão.”
