अभिमन्यु–अलम्बुसयुद्धम् / The Duel of Abhimanyu and Alambusa

विध्वस्ता रथिन: सर्वे राजानश्न निपातिता: । हयाश्वैव हयारोहा: संनिकृत्ता: सहस्रश:
sañjaya uvāca | vidhvastā rathinaḥ sarve rājānaś ca nipātitāḥ | hayāś caiva hayārohāḥ saṃnikṛttāḥ sahasraśaḥ ||
Sañjaya disse: Todos os guerreiros de carro pareciam despedaçados; os reis também pareciam abatidos. Cavalos e cavaleiros, aos milhares, jaziam talhados em pedaços. Assim, no terror daquele espetáculo ilusório, tuas tropas afastaram-se da batalha, vendo seus líderes mais eminentes e seus companheiros como se estivessem mutilados, caídos e encharcados de sangue — uma imagem que quebra a coragem e expõe o sombrio custo moral da guerra.
