इस प्रकार श्रीमह्ााभारत भीष्मपर्वके अन्तर्गत भीष्यवधपर्वमें आठवें दिनके युद्धसे सम्बन्ध रखनेवाला नवासीवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ,दृष्टवा द्रोणस्य विक्रान्तं पाण्डवान् भयमाविशत् | एक एव रणे शक्तो निहन्तुं सर्वसैनिकान् द्रोणाचार्यका पराक्रम देखकर तो पाण्डवोंके मनमें भय समा गया। महाराज! वे युद्धस्थलमें द्रोणाचार्यसे पीड़ित होकर कहने लगे कि “रणभूमिमें अकेले द्रोणाचार्य ही समस्त सैनिकोंको मार डालनेकी शक्ति रखते हैं। फिर जब ये भूमण्डलके सुविख्यात शूरवीर योद्धाओंके समुदायोंसे घिरे हुए हैं, तब तो इनकी विजयके लिये कहना ही क्या है?”
dṛṣṭvā droṇasya vikrāntaṃ pāṇḍavān bhayam āviśat | eka eva raṇe śakto nihantuṃ sarvasainikān ||
Disse Sañjaya: Ao verem o avanço feroz e heroico de Droṇa, o medo entrou no coração dos Pāṇḍavas. Oprimidos por Droṇa no campo de batalha, exclamaram que Droṇa, sozinho, tinha poder, em combate, para matar todos os soldados. E quando ainda está cercado por companhias de guerreiros célebres da terra, que necessidade há de falar de sua vitória?
संजय उवाच

Ethically, it points to the need for steadiness (dhairya) and clear judgment in dharma-driven action, rather than being ruled by panic or exaggeration.
Sañjaya reports that the Pāṇḍavas, witnessing Droṇa’s formidable advance on the battlefield, become alarmed. They voice the belief that Droṇa alone could destroy the entire force, and that with famous warriors around him his victory seems even more assured.
