Daiva–Puruṣakāra Discourse and the Elephant-Corps Engagement (भीमगजानीक-सम्भ्रान्ति)
शितैरवाकिरद् बाणै: कलिड्डानां वरूथिनीम् । कालिड्रस्तु महेष्वास: पुत्रश्नास्य महारथ:
śitair avākirad bāṇaiḥ kaliḍḍānāṃ varūthinīm | kāliḍras tu maheṣvāsaḥ putraśnāsya mahārathaḥ ||
Sañjaya disse: Com flechas afiadas, ele os cobriu numa chuva que sufocou a formação de batalha dos Kaliḍḍas. Mas Kāliḍra—arqueiro de grande perícia, destacado guerreiro de carro e filho de Putraśnā—permaneceu firme para enfrentar o assalto, mostrando que, no tumulto da guerra, a valentia disciplinada e o dever constante são provados sob uma chuva de armas.
