Bhīmasena’s Kalinga Engagement and the Approach of Bhīṣma (भीमसेन-कालिङ्ग-संग्रामः)
प्रणेदुर्भिन्नमर्माणो निपेतुश्च गतासव: । प्राद्रवन्त दिश: केचिन्नदन्तो भैरवान् रवान्
sañjaya uvāca | praṇedur bhinnamarmāṇo nipetuś ca gatāsavaḥ | prādravanta diśaḥ kecin nadanto bhairavān ravān |
Disse Sañjaya: Alguns, com as juntas e pontos vulneráveis despedaçados, trombetearam alto e então caíram ao chão sem vida. Outros fugiram em todas as direções, bramando gritos terríveis. A cena ressalta o ímpeto brutal da batalha—em que até os mais poderosos elefantes de guerra, outrora símbolos do poder régio e da disciplina do treino, são reduzidos a pânico, colapso e morte sob a força das armas.
