तस्मिन् समुदिते शब्दे तुमुले लोमहर्षणे । बभूव रथनिर्घोष: पर्जन्यनिनदोपम:
sañjaya uvāca | tasmin samudite śabde tumule lomaharṣaṇe | babhūva rathanirghoṣaḥ parjanyaninadopamaḥ ||
Disse Sañjaya: Quando se ergueu aquele tumulto estrondoso, de arrepiar, o ribombar das carruagens de guerra irrompeu—como o terrível trovão das nuvens de chuva. Os muitos sons do campo de batalha fundiram-se num único rugido avassalador, sinal de que a guerra se acendera por completo e da gravidade moral do conflito prestes a desdobrar-se.
