śvetacchatrasahasrāṇi sadhvajāś ca mahārathāḥ | vikīrṇāḥ samadṛśyanta śataśo 'tha sahasraśaḥ ||
Disse Sañjaya: Milhares de guarda-sóis brancos jaziam espalhados, e os grandes guerreiros de carro—ainda marcados por seus estandartes—eram vistos estendidos, dispersos às centenas e aos milhares. O esplendor do campo de batalha tornara-se um testemunho severo do custo da guerra, onde posto e honra se reduziam a emblemas caídos em meio à ruína generalizada.
