भीष्मो व: समरे सर्वान् पालयिष्यति धर्मवित् | ते भयं सुमहत् त्यक्त्वा पाण्डवान् प्रति युध्यत
bhīṣmo vaḥ samare sarvān pālayiṣyati dharmavit | te bhayaṃ sumahat tyaktvā pāṇḍavān prati yudhyata |
Disse Sañjaya: “Bhīṣma, conhecedor do dharma, protegerá a todos vós na batalha. Portanto, lançai fora o grande medo e lutai contra os Pāṇḍavas.” A frase enquadra a coragem como dever alicerçado na confiança num guardião justo, exortando o exército kaurava a agir sem pânico e a cumprir a obrigação marcial que escolheu.
संजय उवाच
Fear should be relinquished when one is committed to a duty-bound course of action; confidence is grounded not in arrogance but in reliance on a leader portrayed as dharma-knowing (dharmavit), whose protection stabilizes the community in crisis.
Sañjaya reports an exhortation to the Kaurava side: with Bhīṣma as their righteous and capable protector in the coming battle, they should abandon their great fear and engage the Pāṇḍavas in combat.
