शिखण्डी तु रणे राजन् विव्याधैव पितामहम् । शरैरशनिसंस्पर्शैस्तथा सर्पविषोपमै:
sañjaya uvāca | śikhaṇḍī tu raṇe rājan vivyādhaiva pitāmaham | śarair aśani-saṃsparśais tathā sarpa-viṣopamaiḥ ||
Disse Sañjaya: Ó Rei, no auge da batalha, Śikhaṇḍī começou a trespassar o avô Bhīṣma com flechas—que feriam como o toque do raio e eram terríveis como veneno de serpente—mostrando que, na guerra, até o mais venerado dos anciãos pode ser assaltado quando a maré da estratégia e das inimizades antigas se volta contra ele.
