नाकम्पयत संग्रामे विव्याध च पुनः शरै: । तब सुभद्राकुमारने कोसलनरेशको लोहेके आठ बाणोंसे बींध डाला तो भी संग्राममें उसे विचलित न कर सका। इसके बाद उसने फिर अनेक बाणोंद्वारा बृहद्वालको घायल कर दिया
na akampayat saṅgrāme vivyādha ca punaḥ śaraiḥ |
Sañjaya disse: No auge da batalha, ele não pôde ser abalado; e de novo traspassou o inimigo com flechas. Embora o rei de Kosala atingisse o filho de Subhadrā com oito dardos de ponta de ferro, não conseguiu fazê-lo vacilar no combate; depois, o guerreiro voltou a ferir Bṛhadbala com muitas flechas, mostrando a firmeza esperada de um kṣatriya sob as duras exigências da guerra.
