Bhīṣma’s Fall to the Arrow-Bed
तस्य प्राग्ज्योतिषो राजा माधवस्य महद् धनु: । चिच्छेद शतधारेण भल्लेन कृतहस्तवत्,यह देख प्राग्ज्योतिषपुरनरेश भगदत्तने सात्यकिके विशाल धनुषको एक सिद्धहस्त योद्धाकी भाँति सौ धारवाले भल्लके द्वारा काट डाला
tasya prāgjyotiṣo rājā mādhavasya mahad dhanuḥ | ciccheda śatadhāreṇa bhallena kṛtahastavat ||
Disse Sañjaya: Então o rei de Prāgjyotiṣa, Bhagadatta, decepou o grande arco de Mādhava com uma flecha de ponta larga, como se tivesse cem gumes cortantes, desferindo o golpe com a precisão treinada de um arqueiro mestre. No clima moral da guerra, o verso realça como habilidade e determinação são empregadas para quebrar o meio de ação do oponente—uma necessidade tática dentro do duro código do combate.
