Adhyāya 107 — बहुयुद्धप्रकरणम्
Multiple Defensive Engagements to Protect Bhīṣma
आजुनिश्नित्रसेनेन विद्धों बहुभिराशुगै: । अतिष्ठदाहवे शूर: किरन् बाणान् सहस्रश:
arjunaniścitrasenena viddho bahubhir āśugaiḥ | atiṣṭhad āhave śūraḥ kiran bāṇān sahasraśaḥ ||
Disse Sañjaya: Embora Abhimanyu, filho de Arjuna, tivesse sido trespassado por muitas flechas velozes disparadas por Citrasena, o jovem herói permaneceu firme no campo de batalha, fazendo chover milhares de suas próprias flechas.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights kṣatriya steadfastness: even when wounded, a warrior is expected to remain composed and resolute, continuing his duty without surrendering to fear or despair.
Sañjaya describes Abhimanyu being struck by many swift arrows from Citrasena, yet Abhimanyu does not retreat; he holds his ground and counters by releasing a dense volley of arrows.
