भीष्म-पर्व अध्याय १०० — त्रिगर्त-आक्रमण, भीष्म-केन्द्रित पुनर्संयोजन, तथा शक्त्यस्त्र-विनिमय
(एवमुक्तस्तु राधेयो दुर्योधनमरिंदमम् ।) तमब्रवीन्महाराजं सूतपुत्रो नराधिपम् | यह सुनकर सूत्रपुत्र कर्णने शत्रुदमन नरनाथ महाराज दुर्योधनसे इस प्रकार कहा ।।
evam uktas tu rādheyo duryodhanam arindamam | tam abravīn mahārājaṃ sūtaputro narādhipam || karṇa uvāca | mā śoca bharataśreṣṭha kariṣye 'haṃ priyaṃ tava ||
Assim interpelado, Radheya (Karna) falou ao rei Duryodhana, subjugador de inimigos. O filho do cocheiro disse ao senhor dos homens: “Não te aflijas, ó melhor dos Bharatas. Farei o que te é caro.”
कर्ण उवाच
The verse highlights Karna’s ethic of loyalty and repayment of obligation: he consoles Duryodhana and promises to act for his benefit. It also implicitly raises the Mahabharata’s recurring tension between personal devotion and the broader demands of dharma.
After Duryodhana addresses him, Karna responds. He reassures the king not to grieve and vows to do what Duryodhana desires—signaling readiness to undertake decisive action in the unfolding war situation.
