Generosity (dāna) performed in a dharmic spirit is portrayed as a high virtue that draws communal and even cosmic affirmation; the ‘rain of flowers’ and the praise of celestial beings symbolize moral approval and the uplifting power of selfless giving.
A speaker points out a miraculous sign—flowers raining from the sky—while describing how divine messengers, gods, divine sages, and Gandharvas stand nearby, astonished and praising the recipient/performer of a remarkable act of giving.
