Adhyāya 90: Babhruvāhana’s Reception and the Commencement of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Aśvamedha

षष्ठे काले व्रतवतीं शौचशीलतपो<न्विताम्‌ । कृच्छ्वृत्तिं निराहारां द्रक्ष्यामि त्वां कथं शुभे,तुम प्रतिदिन शौच, सदाचार और तपस्यामें संलग्न रहकर छठे कालमें भोजन करनेका व्रत लिये हुए हो। शुभे! बड़ी कठिनाईसे तुम्हारी जीविका चलती है। आज सत्तू लेकर तुम्हें निराहार कैसे देख सकूँगा

ṣaṣṭhe kāle vratavatīṃ śaucāśīlatapo'nvitām | kṛcchravṛttiṃ nirāhārāṃ drakṣyāmi tvāṃ kathaṃ śubhe ||

O sogro disse: “Ó auspiciosa, tu és devotada a um voto—comer apenas na sexta hora—firme na pureza, na boa conduta e na austeridade. Teu sustento se mantém somente com grande dificuldade. Como poderei suportar ver-te hoje, com apenas farinha tostada (sattu) nas mãos, permanecendo sem alimento?”
